Before we begin, I would like to point out that I initially learned this technique from PhotoShop Top Secret by Mark Monciardini. This tutorial is suitable for starters on learning how to create a simple blue orb. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and do let me know if you’ve any suggestion to make the tutorial better. Do not claim or sell the layered .PSD file available for download at the end of the post as your own. You may use the reference file, excluding the stock and renders only for personal useage.

This tutorial is meant for beginner who has at least some photoshop basic knowledge and would like to start on web design. We’ll not be using any stocks except your company logo and more on the blending options. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and do let me know if you’ve any comments. Do not claim or sell the layered .PSD file available for download at the end of the post as your own. You may use the reference file, excluding the stock and renders only for personal useage.

Step 1
Open up a new document with 875×610 pixels, white canvas. Create a new text layer and type in your website name and slogan. I’m using Walkway UltraCondensed font, #82bfd5, 48pt, Underline and Sharp for the word LOGO. Make a new layer named “Line Seperator” and do a x1 line selection. Duplicate the layer for the second line seperator.

There are essentially three reasons to choose paid web hosting over free hosting: advertising, content, and bandwidth. Most free web hosting companies require you to display their advertisements on your site; this is how the hosting sites generate their revenue. In terms of content, many free hosting companies may place restrictions on what your web site can contain, display, or sell. This is usually to keep the image of the company clean, since they are hosting & displaying your content for free. And in respect to bandwidth (the allotted amount of data your site can send or receive), most free hosting sites limit bandwidth, and if you go over your daily or monthly allocations, your site will be taken offline. Obviously, with a paid hosting service, you will not encounter any of these annoying (and potentially costly) issues.
I initially made this layout for the launch of a Code Geass-R2 fansite but gave up the thought after a while due to several reasons. This layout features Lelouch Lamperouge and C.C. from Code Geass, an animated television series. This layout is coded by Jorge Linares and best viewed using Firefox 3 in 1024×768px resolution but also tested in IE 7. Renders are taken from Anime Render. All images are copyright to their respective owners. This linkware layout is provided for FREE provided that the user put a link back to EmpDesign and Anime Render at all times.

A vast majority of businesses are migrating to the web in search of a plethora of customers they hope will visit in droves and award them with their purchasing dollars. Alas, it’s not as simple as throwing up a shingle in the World Wide Web and hoping people notice.
Some businesses will purchase keywords so that when a person enters a term into a search engine, their site will pop up, and they will get visitors. It’s a great start, however, Google and other search engine rankings use components of the website to determine placement in the search results. The search engines have a unique algorithm they use to determine rankings, but one of the keys are the numbers of links into and out of a website.
The spiders that crawl the webpage can increase ranking if enough outside links are connected. This supposes that if many outsiders link to the site, it must contain information that is both useful and interesting.

The new design is finally finished and finalized about a week ago. I concluded that the previous EmpDesign didn’t serve its’ purpose enough and thus decided to turn the website to a blog where I can post my anime reviews, design tutorials and share resources. The main focus point remained the same, showcasing my works to future potential clients. This theme is being custom designed by me and coding was done with strict XHTML and CSS validated. I’ve tested the website on both IE 6, 7 and Firefox. You’re welcome to contact me via the form if you found any errors when browsing. Read more…
